TECH: Get TED Talk downloaded onto school laptop, test projection with audio on canon in computer lab, get Form from Monica, and schedule bi-weekly time in the computer lab–give it to Ricardo to get authorized and talk to Vicente, Ramon, Diana, Lorena about the times available: 3A Lunes 13:40-14:30, 3B Viernes 8:20-9:10. Get approved and routine set into action.

PREP: Invite to stop by second hour of either 3A class to see first presentation of interpretations, get cd player and cds from art room, play music at break

  • Warm up: What would you do if.. improv acting infront of class (3A adored it yesterday, see if it works here in 2A–
  • grade the quiz, go over the vocab notes, have students cutting cartolina to make folders and start vocab files, sticky grammar files, call on individual students
  • discussing the points of view from the first two stories (DRUMMER & EPISODE) and putting ideas into writing example, compare it to modern concept of war, connect it to War in Iraq, have them do a rough rewrite (see these Mon with other examples).
  • Start writing (tell a story and play music), see if Ramone or Dahlia can watch over the students speaking in english during writing and music while I look at notebooks and make grading from notebook participation and grammar work

  • 10 min (talk about at home reading and book reports)
  • 35 min : Group work continue BLUES AINT project from Fri, assessing warm up goals and how to complete them before friday, use class time as optimal as possible.  Ask Dahlia for help to watch class while they work and monitor English, while I go do a test on school laptop projection in library (prep for Wed)

MONTH ONE: THE BASICS OF DESIGN: RE-LEARNING HOW TO SEE

Lunes 1 Sep: Warm up: “Identify perpective, balance & movement in design” (use tracing paper, pencils, transparencies, dry erase markers, wet erase markers, magazines, big opaque projector & screen. Presentation: Define class structure and class concepts. Concept: Define the relationship between visual art and graphic design. Activity: Self-Artistic introductions with paper and materials

Miercoles 3 Sep: Warm up: “Parts of the whole” (use opaque projector, screen, magazines, homemade cut aperatures from cartolina, Presentation: Connection to art, use of space and confines of paper, perspective. Concept: Review and identify various aspects of visual media focusing primarily on : line, shape, form, color, balance, movement, perspective, contrast. Be able to separate the different elements that compose a visual design. Activity: create and decorate personal folder for keeping textures to be used in design projects (use big pieces of kraft paper), use big back cabinet on left, and using elements of balance, movement, perspective, line, shape, color, use of space.

Lunes 8 Sep: Warm up: “New perspectives in the classroom”: drawing regular objects– Begining to look at object from new angles. Presentation: Digital everyday cameraperson excercise. Activity: re-drawing common objects, naming them, and putting them up around the classroom.

Miercoles 10 Sep:: Warmup: Perpective, Balance and Movement Tracing, (use tracing paper, pencils, transparencies, dry erase markers, wet erase markers, magazines, big opaque projector & screen.) Presentation (using opaque projector and screen). Analyze and discuss how design has been used historically, focusing primarily on: a.) printed media, b.) music album art, c.) printed and broadcast advertising, d.) t-shirt designs.  Activity: analyze printed media in newspapers and magazines, select a theme to represent for a client and design an ad– storytelling– reflection.

Lunes 15 Sep:Warm up: “Parts of the whole” (use opaque projector, screen, magazines, homemade cut aperatures from cartolina. Presentation Analyze and discuss how graphic design has been used through history a.) visual pleasure of producing and viewing of art b.) commerce c.) propaganda. Review the physiological effect of visual stimulation on the human body, and the power of the image. Activity: Keep working on and finish ad– discuss.

Miercoles 17 Sep: Warm up: “New perspectives in the classroom”: observational drawing, re-learning how to see. Presentation:  View examples (labtop projector + screen) of visual art on the surface of urban design. Activity: Re-doing the artroom space.

Lunes 22 Sep Warmup: Perpective, Balance and Movement Tracing (use tracing paper, pencils, transparencies, dry erase markers, wet erase markers, magazines, big opaque projector & screen. Presentation: of my own handmade textures. Activity: Focus on making hand-made visual textures (as opposed to relying on computer graphics), which will be used as the basic elements of the design projects.

Miercoles 25 Sep: Warm up: “Parts of the whole” (use opaque projector, screen, magazines, homemade cut aperatures from cartolina. Presentation: Work autonomously in arranging the elements of design and carrying out the full process of the their work. Activity: Continue to work on patterns and texture with new and familiar mediums, working on folder and finish then quickly work on categorizing.

Lunes 30 Sep: , Warm up: “New perspectives in the classroom”, Presentation and activity: Challenge their artwork through finding and exploring new perspectives in their expression, look back in their folder for the first month, first month reflection.

Taller horario double-booking

Lorena, the art room is occupied by a primary class during the taller hour– can you help me with a rearrangement with that hour so that we can get into the art room and working by next friday?  thanks.
